Church HistoryIn October of 1990, Dr. Warner pioneered the vision of a congregation for the western part of Hypoluxo Road. With two hundred eighty dollars and sixty cents, the first worship service was held at the Holiday Inn Catalina in Boynton Beach. Then for three years the congregation met each Sunday at the Florida Eye Microsurgical Institute which was made available by Dr. Jonathan Chua at no charge to the church. Then in 1995 the congregation bought the Hypoluxo Road property and with a gift of D. Talacki, converted the garage into the beautiful Talacki Chapel. The chandeliers came from a Catholic Church in Virginia and pews from First Baptist Church in Delray Beach. In 2000 the church paid off all mortgages. In 2003 the church bought additional land behind Taco Bell. The church does not conduct an annual every member canvass to support its budget; which includes partial support of five missionaries. In missions the congregation has built a school in Viet Nam for one hundred boys and girls and two years ago raise enough money to provide a whole village in Papua New Guinea with fresh clean water. It is hoped that recent gifts will enable the church to add much needed classrooms, office space and staff. Still small and friendly the services are well attended each Sunday with 9 a.m. Sunday School and 10 a.m.Worship. All are welcome. Church InformationThe Royal Palm Presbyterian Church is a Bible-believing, Evangelical, Protestant (Reformed) congregation founded in 1990. The church is Presbyterian in style and government and offers a blended worship service each Lord’s Day at 10 AM. Biblical preaching and sound theology draw believers from many denominations to each service. Lively singing includes both classical Christian Hymns of Praise and Gospel music. Although an independent congregation the church is affiliated with the American Presbyterian Church, Inc. (Florida) and has participated in the ordination of several dozen ministers serving in a broad variety of Christian denominations. Our MinistersOur Teaching Pastor is also the Founding Pastor, The Reverend Joseph A. Warner. Dr. Warner and his wife Betsy maintain the teaching programs of the church – Betsy teaches the Women’s Circles. Dr. Warner (A.B. Belhaven College, B.D. Columbia Theological Seminary, M. Div. Columbia Theological Seminary; D.M. Luther Rice Theological Seminary) leads the Sunday Services. The Church, in addition to the teaching Elder has twelve ruling elders who assist the minister in pastoral care of oversight of the church. The Joy of Growing The Church – A Short HistoryOur church began in the Holiday Inn in Boynton Beach, Florida with $280.60 in October 1990. At the invitation of Dr. Jonathan Chua, the congregation moved to the “Florida Eye and Microsurgical Institute” in 1991 and met each Sunday in the beautiful auditorium of that facility until 1995 when the church bought five acre tract of land on Hypoluxo Road. With a gift of Dorothy Talacki and other members and friends, plans were made to convert the existing ranch style home into a church facility. The existing garage with its cathedral ceiling was extended and today is the beautiful Talacki Chapel seating 150. It is the setting for many couples for their weddings. The sun light brightens the Chapel as it pours through the glass windows behind the Chancel and the west side walls have four sets of nine feet wide sliding glass doors. This makes a view of trees, shrubs, flowers and blue sky, white clouds all very much like a garden, possible and relaxing. PINK PARKINGWith many elderly Floridians, besides having the usual blue handicapped parking spaces our church features PINK PARKING identified by pink car stops. These spaces are also closer to the buildings and require less walking and are reserved for anyone feeling the need to park closer but are not handicapped. These spaces are reserved until fifteen minutes before the services. Amazingly the congregation respects the fact that some need to be more accommodated. MISSIONARIESAlthough a part of the American Presbyterian Church (APC), Royal Palm Presbyterian Church supports other ministries include missionaries under boards of: The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Campus Crusade for Christ, New Tribes Missions (Papua New Guinea), Jews For Jesus, Laszlo League (providing water systems to villages) Papua New Guinea, Samaritan’s Purse, Salvation Army and the church rejoices to have cooperated in the building a school for one hundred youngsters in the remote mountains of Viet Nam. CHURCH BOARDS – Meet the third Saturdays of each month or at special call WHAT IS THE REFORMED FAITH?We believe and rejoice in the spiritual unity all believers enjoy in being saved. This constitutes the one true, holy catholic church. With the death of the apostles the church wrestled with purity of the Gospel Message and the evolution of the primacy of Rome and sadly the incorporation of many errors and some gravely serious. God blessed the church even through the darkest times with voices calling for reformation and revival. In the struggle for biblical faith God raised up men like Martin Luther and John Calvin and others and the church was reformed. Pro (for) testant (the word) became the name of those who stood FOR THE BIBLE against the ERRORS of men and councils. John Calvin is credited with many of the freedoms we enjoy today including education and vocational equality. Royal Palm Presbyterian Church is Calvinistic in its understanding of the great truths of the Bible. Likewise the New Testament church was governed by both teaching elders and ruling elders but NOT PRIESTS. The word, priest is used in the New Testament only of the Jewish priests of the old sacrifical system. St. Paul and St. Peter and the others were not “priests” but elders and pastors (the word is bishop and is used interchangelably with elders (presbyters). WHAT NO ALTAR? No! With the once-for-all death of our Lord Jesus Christ and his resurrection and ascension the work of our redemption was complete. He is most certainly presently with His church but He is not offered up in any sort of daily mass. This Romish doctrine and others are foreign and contrary to the New Testament and human reason.
